Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) is a technique for representing 3D scenes as a continuous neural function that maps 3D coordinates and viewing directions to color and density, enabling photorealistic novel view synthesis from a sparse set of photographs. Purpose
Traditional 3D reconstruction from photos (photogrammetry) produces meshes with baked textures that lose lighting information and require significant manual cleanup. NeRF solves this by learning a continuous, view-dependent scene representation from RGB images alone — capturing complex lighting effects, translucency, and fine details that traditional methods miss. This enables high-fidelity 3D content creation from real-world capture.
